There are a few things you should always consider.

When fishing with Pyramid Weights and heavy, currents keep moving your baited rig (especially when fishing around crowded Piers and Beaches), subsequently causing you to require the use of a pyramid sinker heavier than 6-8 ounces. 
When fishing with a rod that isn't rated for the weight size pyramid sinker that conditions require.
Any time there is heavy current, especially when you are using larger baits.
Please don’t use them where you expect to have lots of break offs due to snags, we do offer a version with a lift tail built in (they can become quite costly since we as avid anglers end up paying the price for more than just a fishing sinker every time we break off)

The legs hold solid and when properly pulled to retrieve them the arms disengage from their respective slots and swing outward once they release they make the retrieval so much easier meaning you are not having to fight the sinkers weight and legs as you bring them in to re-bait your hook.
 
The legs have to be reset before casting back out.
